Horror fetishism at its finest. I'm a bit ashamed to say that I did enjoy Kanye's video - a little more than I enjoy Kanye's music, and Kanye West himself.
Abounding with imagery of limp, wagging hands (what is it about hands that make them so creepy), lolling heads and rolling eyes, dismembered (visually, literally) body parts, fetish outfits, and dangerous heels, the official Monster video successfully intersects sex, horror, and humor.
I swear, that spiked heel thing is one of my worst fears. That, or Nicki Minaj.
Here's what I thought, not in this order:
- Hot fucking shoes
- AMC's The Walking Dead
- Twilight-inspired vampirism (and a little bit of Underworld and "Thriller")
- Lady Gaga bizarre
- Black Swan
